Our roots
A Story Written in Spice & Soil
From the palmyrah groves of Jaffna to the kithul palms of the hill country, every Makkal Kadai product carries generations of Sri Lankan craft. Makkal means “people” — and this kadai (shop) belongs to the people on both ends: the farmers who grow with pride, and the families in the UK who cook with love.
We work with over 40 small producers across the island, paying fair prices and preserving traditional methods — clay-pot treacle reduction, sun-dried chillies, stone-ground curry powders.
